What is the Great Big Green Week?
The Great Big Green Week is a national campaigning week of activities led by the Climate Coalition to engage people with the issues around the climate and biodiversity crisis.
There will be thousands of events around the UK run by a variety of organizations, from climate groups, to conservation groups, to church groups, to schools and WIs.

Saturday 24.9, 11am-2pm, Reigate Repair Café, at The Yard, next to Reigate Station – booking recommended. www.facebook.com/reigaterepaircafe
Saturday 24.9, 10am, Community Litter pick in Whitebushes – meet at Whitebushes Playground. Led by RBBC Community development worker, Raven Housing Trust and local councillors.
Sunday 24.9, 10am, Conservation session in Reigate Heath with Reigate Area Conservation Volunteers. Just turn up at Flanchford Road Car Park. www.racv.org.uk
Tuesday 27.9, 7.30pm "The case against Gatwick’s second runway plans and the government’s Jet Zero aviation strategy". Online talk, hosted by Gatwick Area Conservation Campaign (GACC) www.gacc.org.uk. Click here for more information and to register for the zoom link.
Wednesday 28.9, 7.30pm, "How to survive a heatwave" Live talk by Bruce Callander, scientist, previously climate scientist for the Meteorolgical Office and the IPCC. Hosted by Dorking Reigate and Redhill Extinction Rebellion at The Yard, next to Reigate Station.

Saturday 1.10, 11am, “Shale Trail” group walk and talk, a 6.5mile linear walk between 2 oil extraction plants in Surrey; Horse Hill and Brockham.
"A 6.5 mile guided walk and talk from Horse Hill to Brockham to raise awareness of Surrey's hidden oil fields.
Please dress for walking and check weather forecast. Bring a packed lunch. There is no car parking at the beginning of this walk. Access-the first half of the walk involves a lot of stiles and a very gentle incline.
After lunch on The Green at Leigh (1pm RH2 8RF) the walk is flat and there are no stiles. There will be refreshments and a presentation about the oil wells at the end of the walk in Brockham. Onward travel to Dorking station via bus at 5.10pm. Lift shares also available."

Meeting at the gates of the UK Oil and Gas extraction site on Horse Hill, 10 mins walk along the road from the junction of Horse Hill and the A217 (nr The Black Horse Pub).

Sunday 2.10 3-4.30pm, "Sowing Seeds Together"- A family seed planting event in solidarity with farmers around the world who are affected by the climate and biodiversity crisis.
Activities and refreshments led by Fairtrade Reigate.

Across the week, YMCA and Richmond Fellowship are teaming up to offer 11 Wellbeing Walks incorporating a love for nature and developing active hope in support of our mental health.

All walkers are asked to sign up to the East Surrey Walking Group on the Ramblers website: Sign up to Ramblers Wellbeing Walks
For the Preferred Wellbeing Walking Group, select ‘Ramblers Wellbeing Walks East Surrey’.
Once walkers have signed up with Ramblers, they will receive an email containing a QR code confirming their registration.
